Japanese restaurant with a downtown bar vibe. 10% Discount to Metro riders and LA City employees. Just look for the giant Chop Suey neon sign. In one the oldest buildings in downtown LA, dating from 1896.


LA's original craft beer bar. World renown for their "Office Burger." Limited seating so it can get crowded in the evenings, especially Friday and Saturday.


Second, larger location with the same menu and pretty much the same beers (some minor variations). In the former Helms Bakery.

Brewpub located in an old Pacific Electric Red Car power station. Specializes in English stye ales.


Neighborhood place just off of downtown El Segundo. Only three or four of the taps have interesting beers but they rotate frequently and always something good. When you walk in the door it is like a time warp back to the 1950s. Cash only (though there is an ATM on site).

Only LA area entry in this national brewpub chain.


A neighborhood pizza place that just happens to have 12 interesting taps of mostly local beers. One of only three outlets for the nearby Progress Brewing. These seem to be having lots of "theme" nights.

The first LA County location of this chain. Famous for burgers that are 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon (hence the name).


Large BBQ restaurant with large, but somewhat mainstream beer list. Very good BBQ.


Tap/tasting room of the brewery with limited hours. It is in an industrial park, around the corner from Monkish Brewing.

Restaurant with a decent draft selection. Only seats about 30, all at communal tables, so can be crowded.


Tiny strip mall deli with great sandwiches and an impressive number of taps in a very small space.


Korean fusion restaurant with a decent tap selection.


Right on the Venice boardwalk with a great ocean view. Mostly West Coast beers with local breweries represented. Inside is small but this is LA, there is a heated patio. Taster flights available.



Old fashioned bar and grill vibe. Interesting food and interesting beer selection. They sell a set of four 5oz samples for $11 (domestic) or $13 (imported).


Restaurant at the Landmark Theatre with an interesting selection of mostly California beers (split between Northern and Southern Cal). Across from the Westside Pavilion Mall.

Unlike some of the newer stores, the bar is located in the back near the beer and wine department.

Another good beer bar inside a grocery store. The Astro Pub is to the far left as you enter. Happy Hour from 4-7pm with $2 off all drafts.


The original pub in the Downtown Arts District. Despite the name the Belgian beer list is more interesting than the German one.


Despite the German name, there are more (and more interesting) Belgian beers here. Food is just sausages, from ordinary (bratwurst, Italian) to exotic (Rattlesnake & Rabbit, Crocodile and Pork, etc). This is their second location, after the original in Downtown LA.
